Pewter Ammonite

This is a hand-cast pewter ammonite. This item is exclusive to Lauren By Sea, being hand-cast in a one-of-a-kind mold made from genuine fossil. It measures approx. 28mm by 25mm and 9mm high and has green felt on the bottom.

Ammonites were a group of marine animals, closely related to octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish, that have now become extinct. Ammonites initially appeared during the Devonian period approx. 419.2 to 3.2 million years ago and then died out during the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event - a mass extinction of some three-quarters of plant and animal species on Earth that occurred approx. 66 million years ago.

Modern Pewter does not contain any lead. The pewter I use is made up of tin, copper and antimony. Your item should remain shiny for many years and can be cleaned with soapy water or a cloth with a small amount of silver or brass polish.

Please note: These items are made to order and polished by hand, so there will be subtle variations from the item picture.
